Need to Know is an American public television news program produced by WNET, and broadcast weekly on all Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) affiliate-stations in the United States. It aired from May 2010 until June 2013. PBS stated that the show was intended to fill the public-affairs and "hard"/investigative news void left by both the one-hour Bill Moyers Journal, and the cancelled, half-hour NOW on PBS. Both departing shows had been long-running, highly rated, and critically acclaimed for their journalistic quality, and focus on issues that deeply impacted regular Americans' lives, yet went largely ignored by commercial TV news outlets. "NTK" branded itself the "TV and Web newsmagazine [that] gives you what you need to know." PBS had described the show as “a multi-platform current affairs news magazine, uniting broadcast and web in an innovative approach to news-gathering and reporting."

Ed Stafford undertakes an extreme survival challenge as he washes up naked and alone on a desert island, Olorua, south east of Fiji. He has only his brain, bare hands and a camera to keep him alive. He'll take no food, water, clothes, knife or tools, so from the moment he arrives he is on a race to stay alive. Myth Makers was a semi-professional series of documentaries about the principal creatives of the 1963 version of Doctor Who. It was produced for the direct-to-video market by Reeltime Pictures — with most releases being interviews of a single cast or crew member conducted by Nick Briggs. The vast majority of the original interviews were conducted between the mid-1980s and the early 2000s. A few more volumes surfaced until the late 2000s, but most of the releases in the 2000s were actually remastered — and often re-edited — versions of the the interviews that had originally been recorded in the 1980s or 1990s. The series was notable for being the first video series about the production of Doctor Who. Its longevity proved there was an appetite for such information, and it is probably fair to say that it helped pave the way for Doctor Who Confidential, as well as the audio interviews that became commonplace on most Big Finish audio CDs.
